G o o d w o o d  P h a n t o m  - Rolls-Royce

How I came to sculpt the Goodwood Phantom

Early in 2005 I was approached by the General Manager of Rolls-Royce South Africa to produce a 1/18th scale sculpture of the Phantom. I agreed to the request and after 16 months of photographing, measuring, carving, filling, filing fettling etc. I completed the master. From this a silicone mould was produced from which were cast 2 pieces that I presented to Rolls-Royce Goodwood in December 2006. The plan was that they should be displayed in Rolls-Royce dealerships (7 were sold in this manner in South Africa) for the pleasure and purchase - if desired by prospective and current Phantom owners. Each one is numbered, mounted on a Walnut veneered base with a commemorative plaque and a clear Perspex cover. The pieces are available to order in very limited quantities.
